Politicians really are the lowest of the low. In the UK at least, they are public school boys with an “Oxbrige” education, a third in Law, and a claim to be a solicitor.

In virtually every case they are career politicians who have never practiced anything, let alone law. They are financially secure from the first moment, shortly after birth, when the sivler spoon enters their mouths and their “born into privilege” status ensures that they remain that way as they preach and posture to everyone else.

There are of course the odd exceptions and I must confess to been “taken in” by David Blunkett. Even after his first illicit affair and baby scandal I tried to mentally excuse him, but now I realise he is perhaps the worst of them all.

Within 2 weeks of losing his position as a minister he is appointed as a director of a company performing DNA testing – something for which the Home Secretaries department (and he was the HS), awards government contracts (with tax payer money). Clearly this was a reward for services rendered. The man is a fraudster and should be in court, only this time on criminal charges.

A spokesperson from his constituency actually defended his actions by suggesting that he was doing nothing more than trying to secure an inheritance for his children. I wonder, does the same excuse work if you rob a bank and then claim that you did that for your family. Elitism remains as strong as ever in Britain, perhaps an Islamic system of law and government is not such a bad thing after all.
