Shingles 5 – the left overs

Shingles 5 – the left overs

Over 3 weeks have now passed since I first picked up this unpleasant thing and it has still not left me.

My only remaining symptoms sound insignificant, but belie their unpleasantness.

Most of the scabs, resulting from the blisters, have now gone, although I will undoubtedly be left with a scar above my right eye from one of the larger ones.

The problems that remain relate to areas of my face that are still reddened and, in particular, the area from my right eyebrow (which still has the remains of the sores on it) down to my upper eye lid.

The problem is nothing more than itching, but it is continuous, cannot be scratched because of the remaining sensitivity, and it is a painful itch. It makes getting a good night’s sleep impossible – something I have not had for over 3 weeks. I have tried pain killers, creams of various types, ice (which gives short term relief), but nothing seems to resolve the problem.

Chicken pox

To add to my problems with shingles, my wife (who unbeknown to both of us) has never had chicken pox, has now managed to contract that from my shingles. Her problems started late last week, which tie in perfectly with the 2 week incubation period for the virus. She will have caught it from me during my first week with shingles.

As stated before, if you think you have shingles, contact your doctor asap.
