A BABE A DAY + Daliy moans

Nothing to add today

Very busy today and with nothing much to add here. I have a lot to get done in advance of my 23 day break in Spain which is now less than two weeks off.

British tennis!

Tim Henman finally runs into his first bit of descent form in two years and gets a Wimbledon draw facing a tough first round opponent and a match up against world number one Roger Federer if he wins that. Murray gets a seed in round one, aformer Olympic champion whist Bogdanovic (if that is how you spell it) gets world number two Nadal.

It is hard to believe the astounding level of “the right school tie” fairness that the LTA have used to give these home players near impossible draws. If it were the French, US or Australian Open the draw committee would have looked after its own, but here the toffs have not to be fair, but to being seen being beyond fair, in penalising our home players – no wonder British tennis continues to be in a state of collapse.

My football observations

Despite drawing with Sweden and winning their qualifying group, it is all doom and gloom for the England football team – at least as far as the press, pundits and fans are concerned. If they play well and lose, it is only the end result that counts, but if they get results and do not play well, it is only the performance that matters!

Before yesterday’s match the rumour was that Owen had lost his form, might be dropped and would almost certainly be substituted. After a tournament exiting injury in the first minute, the same experts now claim that England chances have taken a desperate blow as a result of his taking no further part in the event. This is why I have no interest in football or anyone who supports it!

After a few days of work and much effort by my wife (who I never mention), we have got some advertising pages up on one of my websites in Spanish. Some friends, who are residents of Galicia, will hopefully check out the translation and let us know if any changes are necessary. I will then start trying to sell some advertising to companies out there.

No babe yesterday

I neglected to add a babe yesterday as I rambled on about Filey and Cayton Bay, so here is one minus any rambling at all.

The front drive has had the addition of even more green things and actually looks quite good - I knew my reader wanted to know that! Galicia in 2 and a half weeks.

Filey and Cayton Bay

We drove to the east coast yesterday and enjoyed good warm sunny weather in Filey, Cayton Bay and the surrounding area.

The journey there took just over one and a half hours for 80 miles, the best we have ever managed and the whole day was great.

My grandparents had a static caravan at Brown’s caravan park when I was a kid and we went there often, so it is always a trip down memory lane to go there again – even just for the day.

We started off in Filey, bought 8 cakes in Sterchis (the world best cake shop) plus crayfish sandwiches and then, after a good walk around, went to the caravan park in question where we had our lunch whilst sat on a bench overlooking a playfield. It has significance to me.

From there to the Mere, a once stunning park and water park, now left to fall into an astoundingly bad state of repair – I will never visit it again. Scarborough council – you should be ashamed, it is a disgrace and it was once a centre point of your city. If in Leeds, it would be a major draw (as it once was) and would see hundreds if not thousands of visitors per day.

We then went to Humanby Gap, a massive beach, where we used to go with Whisky, our fantastic dog, and walked on the beach for around an hour.

Finally, we had a drink in the Star pub followed by fish and chips from the almost adjacent shop – they are still the best fish and chips I have ever had – a great day. I just wish I could turn the clock back over 30 years and do it all again as a kid with my sister and parents – the best time ever.

Holiday in Galicia

Our holiday is rapidly approaching – I just hope that it does not pass by at a similar rate!

I finally finished the new Galicia related web site and put it on the internet using the awful web host I have mentioned before, something like x9internet. I will have to see how they perform, but suspect our partnership will be very short lived!

I have done no hunting for babe pics, so I am rehashing an old image for today and time has been short for web logs of late too – hence not many entries over the last 2 weeks.

Our neighbours are now happy at the conclusion of our front garden (yard), which no longer resembles a building site. It does however fail to impress when compared to the views seen from my south African internet friends garden. He sent me some stunning pics of his magnificent house and the views of the mountains one km away – it was awesome. We have been invited over there and would love to go, but airfares are high, so it will be next year before we can even think about it.

Here is da babe……….

Martina Hingis pic

The oppressively hot and humid weather continues in the UK with rain overnight making things worse.

My lone tennis prediction of Nadal seeing off Federer in 4 sets was, as ever, correct. All the pundits went for Federer for reasons unbeknown to me. A 5:1 head to head lead, 2 to zero this year and 59 undefeated on clay all meant nothing to so called experts! Regrettably I did not put my money where my mouth was and did not put a bet on him.

As I continue to play about with one of my sites to gain benefit with google, it finally oversteps the mark with msn and number one and two rankings on multi million searches drop through the floor. It seems wrong that a naturally constructed site does well on msn and yahoo, but needs serious search engine optimisation in order to perform on google. The tragedy for msn and yahoo is that the jump in google rankings more than compensates for the loss on their searches in terms of real traffic. That said there is something seriously wrong for this to be necessary. I also see a site (that I compete with) using 22 000 purchased links, cloaking and other unscrupulous techniques ranking highly on google! All very disappointing.

Todays babe - Martina Hingis

Having spent some time in the sun on Wednesday (laying a patio for my mother) I am now suffering from neglecting to use sun block, wear a T-shirt or follow up with after sun. If I were on holiday I would always do the former and latter, but for some reason fail to apply the same common sense at home.

Staying with patios, I finally finished all but the planting of our now “slabed” front garden. I have been doing it for almost 2 years – the delays caused by back problems, and the neighbours are no doubt relieved that our garden no longer looks like a building site/dump. We are away this weekend, so it will be next week some time when the planting takes place.

This has been my most boring entry ever, so here, without further ado, is the babe – the fabulous Martina Hingis. Forget, Sharapova, Kournakova and the rest, the new long haired and ultra slim Martina Hingis is the hottest tennis babe ever to grace a court – this is her at the current French Open.

The end of an era

I found out yesterday that my favourite restaurant, the Park Lane in Leeds, has been sold by its long time owner and head chef, Robert. This is bad, bad news as the Park Lane was, in my opinion, far and away the best restaurant in the city. It offered French cuisine and, although far from cheap, was a great place to have that “special night out”.

Sat in the grounds of a golf course and with table cloths (not bistro style), mild lighting and soft music in the background, it offered an eye into the more sophisticated eating habits of the past. The proprietor, Robert, was always entertaining and personable, the food, nothing short of stunning and, although always ridiculed for wanting my steak (when I ordered one) “well done”, it was none the less prepared exactly as I liked it.

The official handover is this Monday and we have (my whole family) been invited to a buffet which is intended to signal the event and no doubt promote the new owner-ship. It will be a sad day, we have always celebrated family events there and will no doubt have to find somewhere new as a result.

Too busy with Galicia

I have been too busy over the last 1 to 2 weeks to make any meaningful entires - mainly because of work I am doing on a site about Galicia combined with landscaping my small front garden.

Hopefully normal service will resume in about a week, although I will be away on holiday in about a month.

Unfortunately the lovely Martina Hingis was beaten in the french open today - Hingis looked the best I have ever seen her - quite stunning. I will try to get a good pic of her for another time. Sharapova is also out although another young Russian is pretty hot and through to the semis!

So, for now here is a recap on some of the recent babes to feature in this blog. Pictures only - I don't know and don't care what their names are.
